The bond between a canine and a human is said to be very special, and “Xerxes,” a police dog, proved this last Monday when, at the burial for his buddy and trainer Jorge Baeza, he chose to approach the casket and bid him an emotional farewell that no one expected and that touched many.
When Jerjes joined the Carabineros Canine Training Unit in Santiago de Chile in 2013, Baeza and Jerjes met and became inseparable.
This man lost his life in a terrible car accident on December 16 of this year while en route to see one of his grandparents. The dog was brought to Baeza’s funeral by his coworkers without hesitation.
A police officer’s uncle who passed away said:
“The parting for my nephew was quite thrilling. Particularly now that his coworkers have brought the dog training puppy he had in the apartment.
Eduardo Ortega, who was there at the funeral and posted pictures on Facebook, stated:
“I believe it is important to share this photo, today we said farewell to the remains of a colleague, of a canine teacher, and his colleagues from Santiago came his devoted pet to say goodbye to him,” the author added.
