When the weather is nice, John and Alex Sanders like to keep the door open to enjoy the breeze. They were sitting out at home with the door open about six months ago when a cat strolled in, welcomed them, and sat down as if it were their house.

According to John Sanders, who spoke to The Dodo:

“He just strolled in like he owned the place.”

They looked at the cat’s nameplate and discovered that it is called ‘Tigger.’ They quickly phoned his family and discovered that Tigger lived down the street and enjoyed exploring the area.

Tigger was returned to his family at the time, and the couple assumed that was the end of it, but Tigger had other intentions.

John said:

“He returned the next day, and every day after.”

Since then, the little guy has visited his new closest mates on a daily basis, passing by roughly twice a day and returning for the night.

Tigger’s family has consented to let him do anything he wants, and he has chosen the Sanderses as his second family for whatever reason.

John stated:

“Tig’s self-directed schedule is as follows: he used to spend the night solely between 9 and 11 p.m. When Alex went out for coffee, she would let him out. Now that we are at home during COVID, he visits us between 12-2, 4-6, and still stays the night. There are days when we don’t see it, but they are few and far between. We frequently see it twice a day, every day.”

The couple attempted to educate Tigger to return to his family at night, but finally gave up and decided to let Tigger sleep wherever he pleased.

Tigger begins to meow when the door is closed, requesting that it be opened. Certainly, the Sanderses are a part of his family as well.

John continued, saying:

“Tig’s parents have stated that he does exactly what he wants and has picked us. They have stated that they are relieved that he is warm and protected and does not roam the streets.”

Despite the fact that the couple has no idea why the cat selected them and continues to sneak home to hang out, they are really satisfied with the arrangement. They adore him and consider him to be a member of their family.
