A road worker named Metin Keskin saved a drowning kitten during flash flood in Istanbul, Turkey, and brought him back to life with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Keskin recounted how he came across the kitten when he and his coworkers were sent to clear away floodwaters. The tiny stray kitten was being swept away by heavy rains to the brink of death, when he spotted her and rushed to pick her up. She was motionless, seemingly lifeless, and wasn’t making any sound.

However, Keskin refused to leave the poor baby. Right there on the street, he knelt over her and decided to try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, in hopes to revive the little kitten.

Keskin started to give the cat chest compression and breathe a few gentle breaths into her mouth. He also massaged her little body to help get the water out of her lungs and warm her slowly.

They yelled in pleasure and excitement after a few anxious minutes when they saw a sign of life. Through his lips, the cat spat out the water and made a feeble meow sound.

Keskin hurried the kitten to the vet, where staff nursed her back to health so she could fully recover. Keskin chose to adopt the cat and provide her with a lifelong home, so it wasn’t the last time he saw her.

She becomes our kitten now, and I’m so happy,” Keskin told reporters at a press conference at the animal hospital.

Thank you for all you did for the kitten. You’re a sweet man with a good heart. We are so happy to know that she is now safe and warm in new home.
